Team Building Trips

Asian Public Policy Program conducts a team building trip at the beginning of each academic year, in order for all members of the Program - students, faculty members, staff - with different backgrounds, cultures and values to have better understanding of each other, and have a good team spirit. The team building trip includes visiting cultural/historical places, company/factory visits, as well as country presentations by students in the first night of the trip when we have a party.

The photos below are from our 2018 team building trip. From top left to bottom right, the Saijoji Temple (we practiced Zen there !), Hakone Owakudani (famous for active volcanic activity), two photos from the party, lunch near the historic Hakone Checkpoint, and a discussion with the Mayor of the Hakone City on the City's efforts to attract tourists.

Field Trips

Some sponsors such as Japan-IMF Scholarship for Asia, ADB-JSP and JDS Scholarship provide funds for field trips, which are arranged by the Program. In these trips, students go to some place in Japan distant from Tokyo by plane, and spend several days there visiting local agencies for study (e.g., the prefectural government office and the branch office of the Bank of Japan) as well as sightseeing spots in the vicinity.

Students without scholarship funding for field trips are also welcome to join by paying for the costs.

Japanese language class and Japanese cultural experience

Some scholarship sponsors provide funding for Japanese language class, and for events in which APPP students get to experience Japanese culture arranged by the Program.

Social Activities

Students enjoy and gain greatly by networking with other students through social activities arranged by themselves, or by the Program, the dorm, and the University.

Hitotsubashi University has its own dormitories in Kunitachi (main campus) as well as in Kodaira (also in the western suburb of Tokyo). The dormitories offer comfortable accomodation and an opportunity to interact with not only classmates but also Japanese and foreign students enrolled in different courses at Hitotsubashi. APPP students will be able to stay in Kunitachi or Kodaira single dormitories upon enrollment until graduation, but the maximum stay is for two years.*

*Couple/Family rooms are limited and students may be able to get slot from second year, depending on availability and slots are only given by lottery and based on some other conditions.
