The Objective
 

Another objective of the APPP is to be a center for research and information exchange as well as a networking hub among Asian scholars, policymakers and practitioners in the field of fiscal, monetary and other public policy. From 2000 through 2005, the APPP organized, jointly with the faculty members of the Graduate School of Economics, annual international symposia on selected topics that were of interest to academics and policymakers in the public policy area.
 

Topics covered included decentralization and economic development, pension reforms, health insurance systems, tax policy and reform, and foreign direct investment and corporate taxation from the viewpoint of Asian policy makers. Furthermore, the APPP coordinated some of these symposia with a variety of public organizations both at home and abroad, including the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.
